D.

His daughter was a baby when he died. She’s grown now, with children of her own. She posts loving missives to him on Facebook. She can’t remember him but his death left an aching hole in her heart. Sadly, the loving father she misses bears no resemblance to the unkind man he really was.

  1. Oh goodness. The imaginary father so much better than the one he would have been.

    1. Who knows what would have happened if he had lived. He seemed to love the baby, but he was unkind to my friend, preferring to spend his time with the boys and sometimes other women. On the other hand, I have privately suspected that my friend thought a pregnancy would help cement the relationship.
