I remember her tragic story vaguely – a Shoshone girl, kidnapped by another tribe, sold to a French trapper, translator for the Lewis and Clark expedition. But I don’t trust white historians. I don’t trust the voluntary nature of her service. I don’t trust that her death at only 25 was by natural causes.
Yes, those "facts" do sound suspicious.
