Madame R.

I ran into my French teacher in the hallway of the high school almost thirty years after I graduated. Do you still keep in touch with L. and Y, she asked, remembering me and the girls I hung with all those years ago. And what is G. up to these days? (My brother.)

    Yes, I was about to say thank heavens you remembered them! Some of my conversations with old friends are pretty funny: "Remember that time with Elaine, when we . . .?" "Uh, not really. But remember Dennis, and how he used to . . .?" "Dennis who?"
